According to the Mayo Clinic leg pain is most often a symptom of wear and tear, overuse of a muscle, or injuries in the ligaments and joints. Knee pain is the second major cause of chronic pain? More than one-third of people in the U.S. suffer from it. Back pain, hip pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, deep vein thrombosis, knock knees, shin splints, hammertoes, bursitis can all be caused by hypertonic leg muscles. Individuals with these conditions will inevitably adjust the way they walk to avoid pain, risking other injuries. Any dysfunctional adjustment to your gate can affect posture and body mechanics, leading to back pain and increasing your risk of hip, back and knee injuries. Come take a closer look at how you as a massage therapist can help avoid injuries caused by tight leg muscles.
